ARTIFACTS AT SEABEE MUSEUM

These images were taken at U.S. Navy Seabee Museum, Naval History and Heritage Command. Port Hueneme , California, USA.

The artifacts photographed were items which remained in the Chagossian homes after eviction. In 1973,  Navy personnel stationed on Diego Garcia sent the items to the museum to be housed and preserved.  Along with items from the military operation, this is the biggest selection of tools and objects from plantation life remaining outside of the Chagos Islands today.
